In this talk, Marwan Mansour reflects on how curiosity, observation, and community shaped his creative path.
Growing up, sharing his story often came with assumptions and surface-level questions about identity. Instead of repeating the same answers, Marwan learned to listen, ask better questions, and pay attention to the world around him. That instinct follows him from Toronto to Ottawa, where he studies architecture and stumbles into design through collaboration rather than a straight line.
He talks about discovering graphic design by doing it before naming it: translating ideas into visuals, setting tone, and helping others communicate clearly. Alongside client work and large-scale projects, photography becomes his personal outlet. Camera walks, film photography, and the ideas of studium and punctum help him reconnect with play, imperfection, and meaning.
A single message asking him to help at Creative Mornings opens the door to community building. Over time, Marwan moves from observer to organizer, learning how much care and effort it takes to create spaces where creatives feel they belong.
The talk closes with a simple reminder: you don’t have to be one thing. Focus on your intention in the moment, stay open to discomfort, and let your interests connect over time.
