What it means to attend an Ottawa Design Club event!
Being in the same room
ODC (Ottawa Design Club) events are about being in the same room. Creating a moment where people who care about creative work get to sit together, listen together, and geek out together. There’s no agenda beyond that. No pressure to be impressive. Just a shared interest and a shared curiosity.
That feeling you’ve been missing
A lot of people come to ODC because they’re missing a certain feeling. The feeling of not being the only one thinking this way, struggling with the same questions, or caring maybe a bit too much about their work. When you’re in it day to day, especially if you work alone or in small teams, it’s easy to feel disconnected. ODC exists to interrupt that.

What happens beyond the talk
The talks give shape to the night, but the real value often happens around them. The nods when something resonates. The conversations that start because someone finally put words to something you’ve been feeling. The moment you realize the person next to you is wrestling with the same things you are.
Who you’ll find in the room
You’ll meet people at different stages, doing different kinds of creative work, coming from different places. What connects everyone isn’t a title or a discipline. It’s the desire to be better, to understand their work more deeply, and to feel part of a creative ecosystem rather than on the outside of it.

What can come out of it
Some people leave with new friends. Some find collaborators. Some meet someone who later becomes a creative partner, a mentor, or yes, even a job connection. None of that is forced. It happens naturally when you put the right people in the same space and give them time
What it really means
Being at an ODC event means being part of something, even if just for the night. A shared pause. A shared interest. A reminder that you’re not doing this alone.
That’s it. That’s the point.
