Event 0006

Collaboration

Tickets

The Ottawa Design Club is back with another live speaker event! This time, we’re exploring the concept and process of collaboration—learning to be vulnerable, embracing change, and all the ways this can enhance your work. Three Ottawa creatives will share their experiences with collaboration in their own work, diving deep into the challenges they faced, and the unexpected surprises that made the final outcomes more than they could have anticipated.

Here’s what you can expect at our upcoming speaker event:

Make new creative friends! The first hour of the event is dedicated to networking. Don’t be scared, we promise the ambiance will be super laid back. Grab a drink, have some food and have a chat with a stranger!

Listen to inspiring speakers! Local music producer Quest will speak about the collaborative nature of the music industry and how this has shaped his work as an artist and producer, learning to be authentic, flexible, and seize opportunities. Next, a collaborative speech between colleagues Rachel Weldon and Sandra Ngenge Dusabe will give a glimpse into their work together for Debaser and the local Pique festival, and how bringing people together is at the heart of what they do.

Discover Zine 0005! We’ll be releasing Zine 0005 — Collaboration on the same night. Copies will be available for purchase at the zine table at the event. Be one of the first to get your hands on a copy of our final zine!

There will also be food and a cash bar.

IMPORTANT: Please stay home if you’re not feeling well or have symptoms associated with COVID-19. Masks will be available for anyone that wishes to wear one.

Quest
Owner, Music Producer, Dreamland Studios

Quest is an entrepreneur, sound engineer, and producer. He is one of the most renowned music producers in the Gatineau-Ottawa region and the founder of Dreamland Studios - a hub for local talent. He started his career in 2001 as a DJ and began composing with his mentor DaHeala, who has since produced for The Weeknd. From 2009 to 2019, his production company, Délit de Fuite Productions (DFP), produced more than 60 artists. In 2018, he joined local artist Hevve at RBC Bluesfest after multiple album collaborations between the two. Proud ambassador of the Ottawa-Gatineau region, he organized the 2021 Homegrown/Cultivé Ici Festival, which had its second edition in 2022, to bring the underground scene of cultural entrepreneurs together. This past fall, he presented his first photography exhibit, SND TRK, at the local art gallery L'Imagier, where he shared portraits of artists in the hip hop community along with an associated song. Affectionately known as "PoppaQuest", he is the ultimate example of a creative who does it for the culture.

Relive the Event!

Note: With last minute cancellations from 2/3 of our speakers due to illness, this event pivoted from its originally advertised program into an impromptu open-mic panel discussion with local creatives Sandra Ngenge Dusabe and Priya Gurnani. We’re so grateful for our community who showed up for us despite the unexpected turn of events.
