The Ottawa Design Club aims to unite Ottawa’s creative community through events and zines, providing a positive and open to all environment for participants and speakers to have meaningful conversations and learn from each other. In order to create this kind of environment, we ask that all attendees follow the conduct guidelines outlined below.
Our events are open to all attendees, regardless of religion, ethnicity, physical appearance, body size, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristics or beliefs. All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a way that is respectful of all individuals. Please be mindful of how your words or actions might affect others. Let’s all work together to make space for each other’s ideas and perspectives.
If you realize that your behaviour has been disrespectful or insensitive, or if someone brings such an issue to your attention, take a moment to pause and reflect on the feedback without defensiveness. Listen with an open mind, offer a genuine apology to those affected, and adapt your behaviour to foster a more open environment.
If you have accessibility needs, please get in touch with us ahead of time so we can help make your experience comfortable. We also offer a 2-for-1 ticket system for individuals attending with a support person.
Following these guidelines is essential to maintaining a respectful and supportive environment. If anyone behaves in a manner not in line with our code, they will be asked to alter their behaviour immediately. Failure to comply can lead to removal from the current and future events, as determined appropriate by the event organizers.

If you believe someone is in physical danger, please notify 911 immediately. As a non-emergency alternative, you can also contact 211 to access free, confidential support and community services available 24/7.
