The Ottawa Design Club aims to unite Ottawa’s creative community through events and workshops, providing a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for participants and speakers to have meaningful conversations and learn from each other. In order to create this kind of environment, we ask that all attendees follow the conduct guidelines outlined below.
Our events are inclusive of all attendees, regardless of religion, ethnicity, physical appearance, body size, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristics or beliefs. All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a way that is respectful and inclusive of all individuals. Please be mindful of how your words or actions might affect others. Let’s all work together to make space for each other’s ideas and perspectives.
We encourage all participants to have open and honest discussions, and to be responsible for their words and actions. If you observe someone behaving disrespectfully or insensitively towards someone else (and if you feel comfortable engaging with them), we encourage you to respectfully ask them to stop. If the person does not respond to your request, or you would prefer not to approach them, please contact a member of the organization team immediately. We’re here to listen and to help resolve any issues that may arise.
If you catch yourself being disrespectful or insensitive, or if you are approached by someone about your words or behavior, we encourage you to pause, listen openly to the concern, own what you’ve said or done, apologize, and move forward in a constructive and respectful way.
If any of these terms are violated, the participant will be asked to stop and must comply immediately. If an individual does not comply, organizers will take action as deemed appropriate, including expulsion from the events.
If you believe someone is violating the code of conduct, or if you have any questions about this, please contact us by emailing hello@ottdesign.club. All reports will be kept anonymous. If you believe someone is in physical danger, please notify local law enforcement immediately.
We look forward to seeing you at our events!
